Quality Assurance & Software Testing na empresa 4ALL Software
2023-11-24 - Alves, Diana dos Santos; Gouveia, António Jorge Gonçalves de
It is extremely important that the information systems developed are subjected to a set of quality tests (software testing) to detect errors or failures and correct them, as well as to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the customer. The work in the company 4ALL Software consisted in ensuring the software quality of the Dominis platform before it was delivered to the customer. The main objective was to model the system, develop and apply software quality tests to the platform, using manual and automated tests. To meet the proposed objectives, preliminarily, the survey of functional and non-functional requirements was conducted, followed by its analysis. The system was then modelled using diagrams from the unified modeling language. A systematic review of the literature was performed to synthesize clear and objective information related to the topic of software quality assurance. The review aimed to answer questions such as: what is software quality assurance?; What is Software Testing and what are its goals?; What are the categories and levels of Software Testing? And what are the techniques used in software testing?; among other pertinent issues. Then, based on the requirements gathered earlier, test plans were developed that included unit-level, integration, system, and acceptance testing. The execution of these tests allowed to identify bugs that could compromise the efficiency of the platform. Unit-level testing was performed through Python scripts using the pytest test framework to evaluate the API. For the integration or system tests of the web and mobile applications, the Katalon Studio tool (automatic tests) was used and in certain cases, manual tests were performed. Acceptance tests were performed manually.

Influence of selected parameters in the success of artificial insemination in bitches
2023-12-06 - Carvalho, Inês Vinhais de; Bessa, Ana Celeste Andrade Martins de Carvalho; Nizanski, Wojciech Janusz
The development of Computer Assisted Semen Analysis (CASA) systems has granted an objective and precise semen quality assessment. This parameter is frequently used for the prediction of the success of Artificial Insemination (AI). Nonetheless, studies analysing the correlation between the stud dogs’ age, breed and/or size and CASA measurements and approving its clinical relevance for a reliable prediction of in vivo fertility in dogs are scarce. Additionally, the influence of the number of inseminations in the result of fresh semen intrauterine AI remains controversial. Consequently, this study aims to clarify the presented issues. For this purpose, data was collected from AI in healthy fertile dogs. 24 inseminations were analysed. The ideal moment for insemination was determined using vaginal cytologies and serum progesterone concentrations. Semen was collected manually. Sperm morphology was evaluated conventionally and concentration and motility were analysed with the Hamilton Thorne Sperm Analyser (IVOS® V12.2L). Aided by an ureterorenoscope (KARL STORZ®), fresh semen intrauterine insemination was conducted once in 8 bitches and twice in 8 different bitches. Pregnancy was confirmed with ultrasonography. Parturition occurred naturally or with surgical intervention. Successful inseminations were considered ones in which pregnancy was confirmed 23-28 days after the estimated ovulation day, with the whelping of one or more healthy puppies. Statistical analysis was carried out with two-tailed permutation tests, Fisher’s exact tests and correlations. Larger dogs (>25 kg) had significantly higher mean numbers of spermatozoa (1381.48 × 106 spz; p = 0.005) and mean spermatozoa concentrations (324.41 × 106 spz/ml; p = 0.019) than smaller dogs (334.77×106 spz; 141.80×106 spz/ml). Mean VCL was higher (p = 0.029) in smaller dogs (245.91 µm/s) whereas larger dogs presented lower values (206.50 µm/s). AI was successful in 12 (75%) bitches. Ejaculates used in these inseminations showed significantly higher means of VAP (successful = 163.35 µm/s; unsuccessful = 129.16 µm/s; p = 0.031); VSL (successful = 147.08µm/s; unsuccessful = 110.26 µm/s; p = 0.016); STR (successful = 89.21%; unsuccessful = 82.75%; p = 0.005) and LIN (successful = 64.79%; unsuccessful = 52.25%; p = 0.007). These ejaculates also presented higher mean percentages of progressive spermatozoa (successful = 72.92%; unsuccessful = 47.75%; p = 0.014); and rapid spermatozoa (successful = 82.00%; unsuccessful = 59.00; p = 0.028); and lower percentages of slow spermatozoa (successful = 7.50%; unsuccessful = 15.25; p = 0.013). There was a high positive correlation between prolificacy and VAP (r = 0.69) and VSL (r = 0.71); a moderate positive correlation with BCF (r = 0.53), LIN (r = 0.63) and percentages of motile (r = 0.52), progressive (r = 0.61) and rapid spermatozoa (r = 0.63); and a moderate negative correlation with the percentage of slow spermatozoa (r = -0.60). The mentioned kinematic parameters might be valuable predictors of fertility in stud dogs, particularly the VAP and VSL.

Doença degenerativa da valva mitral: casos clínicos
2023-12-05 - Barroso, Marta Alexandra Fernandes; Pires, Maria João Miranda; Faria, Beatriz Maria Domingues
