The Practical Work’s methodology, which articulates with the Laboratorial Work and the Fieldwork, presents itself as a methodological support which should be used by teachers during the process of the Natural Science’s Teaching and Learning in the secondary level of schooling. The main purpose of this dissertation is to present the study that we conducted with the primordial objective of understanding in which way a group of students would have improvements in their learning, knowledge, capabilities, as well as in their attitudes and values as a result of the application of those methodologies. The research was undertaken with students from the Secondary School of Santa Maria da Feira during the school years of 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, with the participation of the students from 8ºE and 9ºB. The school’s geographic area where the study was conducted offered the natural and architectural elements for the syllabus, which objects were the Cáster River, the walls of the Castle, the churches, the statues, a zebra, the beach, the Malaposta quarry, and the São Jorge hot spring. Our intention was to arouse the curiosity of the students, increase their knowledge about their region and promote their respect for the local heritage. Our base line was the achievement of the knowledge about the interesting region, mainly in a Geology domain. We built the materials for pedagogic support, indispensables for the teaching activity; supported by the Laboratorial and Fieldwork, we planned and we implemented the pedagogical work with the students, based on the methodology of actionresearch. We called upon different data collection instruments, with different agents – the representative of one of the organizations visited in the Fieldwork; the teachers of the classes involved in the interdisciplinary activities; the students and the researcher, as the responsible for the study management. Through different questionnaires – administered to teachers and students – one interview, one pretest, one posttest, and some field notes, we obtained data that were subjected to content analysis, which allowed us to obtain results and withdraw conclusions.
