The objective of the present study was to evaluate the evolution of calves that received a complementary compound feed (Delta®Soluvox ™, Ibersan group CCPA), measuring animal performance through animal health indicators using the tables of the university's school of veterinary medicine of Wisconsin Madison (USA) growth levels such as rump height and withers, abdominal perimeter and live weight were measured. Twenty calves (10 from the control group and 10 from the "treatment" group) were measured weekly, and the faeces evaluated daily showed a significant increase in weight gain and a decrease in duration of diarrhea when the treatment group compared with the control group (P <0.01). The results suggest that the supplement can be administered for better performance. In the course of the study, the ability of calves to adapt to the automatic feeder was evaluated, and calves were encouraged to visit the feeder in the morning and at night. The evaluation showed that the calves take about 5 days to adapt to the automatic feeder, the voluntary visit and that the time of adaptation varies depending on the animal and other factors. The literature review seeks to obtain a holistic view on the health and development of the calf.
