A investigação denominada “A intervenção do Serviço Social no âmbito dos Problemas Ligados ao Álcool” assenta num trabalho de investigação realizado na Comunidade Terapêutica da Cáritas Diocesana de Vila Real - Projeto Homem, onde através do recurso abordagem qualitativa e a técnicas de investigação social, nomeadamente, entrevistas e questionários (como instrumento complementar) se pretendeu perceber quais os entendimentos de dez pessoas dependentes de álcool a realizar tratamento, assim como da Assistente Social desta instituição sobre esta problemática. Na abordagem deste tema conferiu-se uma especial importância às perceções dos utentes, assim como da Assistente Social da instituição para responder aos seguintes objetivos da investigação: i) Perceber as causas do consumo, fatores que conduzem à recaída e diferenças entre o consumo de álcool e de substâncias ilícitas; ii) Compreender quais os papéis desempenhados pelas famílias das pessoas dependentes de álcool; iii) Perceber qual o entendimento dos utentes e da Assistente Social sobre as regras da instituição; iv) Compreender quais os papéis e as funções desempenhadas pela Assistente Social da Cáritas Diocesana de Vila Real - Projeto Homem e qual a perceção dos utentes perante a sua intervenção; v) Perceber a perceção dos utentes no que respeita à reinserção social e quais os contributos do Assistente Social para a melhoria das políticas sociais relacionadas com os Problemas Ligados ao Álcool. Entre as principais conclusões retiradas da investigação, destacamos a dimensão multifatorial da doença, que se traduz, igualmente, num processo de tratamento, recuperação e reinserção complexo, dada a necessidade de serem tratados aspetos de ordem física, psíquica e social. Verificamos que os papéis desempenhados pelas famílias oscilam entre impulsionadoras do consumo (numa primeira fase), passando na maioria dos casos a codependentes e vítimas, contudo, com a realização do tratamento por parte da pessoa dependente, passam a ser apoiantes na sua recuperação. Compreendemos das conclusões retiradas que a intervenção do Serviço Social nesta área manifesta fundamental importância no que respeita à articulação com outras instituições, no apoio às famílias, no cumprimento das regras institucionais por parte dos utentes, no seu acompanhamento, na sua capacitação, e no papel e funções que desempenha na instituição e na reinserção social dos mesmos.
The research called “Social Work intervention, in the extent of Alcohol problems context”, is based on a research work carried out in the Therapeutic community of Cáritas Diocesana of Vila Real - Man Project, where through the use of a qualitative approach and social research techniques, particularly, interviews and questionnaires (as a complementary tool) was intended to perceive, the understandings of ten alcohol dependent people, performing treatment, as well the institution social worker view, regarding this issue. In the approach of this theme, a special importance was given to the users perceptions, as well to the institution social worker, to respond to the following research objectives: i) Understand the consumption causes, factors that lead to relapse and differences between the alcohol consumption and illicit substances; ii) Understand which roles are played by the families of the alcohol dependent people; iii) Realise the users and social worker understandings about the institution rules; iv) Understand the roles and functions performed by the Cáritas Diocesana social worker of Vila Real - Man Project and what is the users perception regarding the social worker intervention; v) Understand the users perception regarding the social reintegration and what are the social worker contributions to improve the social policies, related to alcohol problems. Among the main draw conclusions from the research, we highlight the multifactorial dimension of the disease, which also translates a complex treatment, recovery and reintegration process, given the need, to deal with physical, psychological and social aspects. We verified that the roles played by the families oscillate between consumers boosters (in a first phase), passing in most cases to co- dependents and victims, but with the dependent person treatment performance, they start to support their recovery. From the drawn conclusions, we understand that the social work intervention in this area, expresses fundamental importance, in relation with other institutions articulation, in the families support, in the institutional rules compliance by users, in their accompaniment, in their qualification, and in the role and functions performed at the institution and in the users social reintegration.
