O trabalho actual procura registar, estudar e analisar as imagens dos cavaleiros na arte rupestre de Philippi. Estas são as dominantes no grupo de Profetas Helias e “MANA”. Os cavaleiros serão desenvolvidos como figuras únicas e uma comparação iconográfica preliminar será estabelecida. Entretanto, apesar de já terem sido efectuadas algumas tentativas para datar os petrogliphos, o autor considera a necessidade de se estabelecer um quadro cronológico mais rigoroso, tratando-se de um desafio para uma proxima pesquisa em arte rupestre no norte da Grécia.
The present work is concerned in recording, studying and analyzing the figures of the horsemen in Philippi rock art. The current figures are the dominant in the cluster Prophet-Helias and “MANA”. The horsemen will be developed as unique figures and a preliminary iconographical comparison will be attempted. Although, efforts to date the petroglyphs have been carried out, still setting a more secure chronological frame for the art is considered by the author the next challenge in the very new beginning in rock art research in North Greece.
