Abstract

A Tragédia Castro de António Ferreira simboliza a mais sincera e verdadeira força do Amor que leva um Rei a aperceber-se da crueldade de uma decisão estatal injusta (que acaba por acontecer), mas que ao mesmo tempo acaba por vencer a própria Morte. A história do amor proibido de Inês e Pedro, o herdeiro do trono português, comove profundamente aqueles que ao longo dos séculos acreditam no Amor e em toda a sua força. Assim, Inês, tomada pelo Amor, é a personagem que melhor revela a intemporalidade e a invencibilidade do sentimento, que a transforma, a ela também, numa personagem imortal. Na realidade, a nossa proposta vai no sentido de provar a imortalidade e intemporalidade do amor de Pedro e Inês, o que inclui uma relação Amor-Morte e o poder do Amor sobre a Morte. E esta proposta passa por referirmos algumas obras para além da obra de António Ferreira, bem como referirmos que Pedro revelou toda a sua humanidade e dor, quando procedeu à trasladação de Inês e à sua coroação após a sua morte. Actos impensáveis nos nossos dias, são estes os actos que só o verdadeiro Amor tem coragem e sublimidade para realizar. A nossa intenção é mostrar que Inês se tornou imortal muito além da história. A nossa intenção com este estudo é ainda demonstrar que a função de Pedro na história foi imortalizar Inês, dar-lhe vida após a sua morte.

António Ferreira’s Tragédia Castro symbolizes the most real and truest strength of Love, the one that makes a king realise the cruelty of an unfair royal decision (that ends up taking place), and defeats Death itself. The story of the forbidden love between Inês and Pedro, the heir to the throne, deeply touches the hearts of those who have believed in Love and in its power throughout the centuries. Inês proves to be the character chosen by Love to reveal its own timeless and invincible power, making her its immortal character. In fact, our proposal it to prove the immortality and everlasting love between Pedro and Inês which includes a Love-Death connection and the power of Love over Death itself. This proposal refers also to some authors and books and it will show Pedro in all his humanity and actual pain when he took Inês and honoured her with an after-death coronation. These are unthinkable acts nowadays and they only perpetraded by the truest Love because only him has the kind of courage and dignity to fulfil them. It´s actually Inês’s immortality and everlasting love we intend to study with this essay, that still includes the Love - Death connection and the power of Love over Death. Our intention is to show how Inês became immortal, far beyond her myth and story.
