The main work of this thesis was the fruit of researchers collaborations of IDMEC/IST/UTL for the control process, the ISR/UC for the electronic and artificial vision process and finally the CITEPE/UM, where I was involved, for the aerodynamic process. These researchers were integrated in the financed project DIVA (Dirigivel Intelligente para Vigilânica Aérea), this project was supported by FCT (Foundation of Science and Technology) of Portuguese secretary of high education with the link of the project AURORA developed in the Campanias in Brasil. The main objectives of this project are essentially to improve the intelligent visual of “longs standards”, to self control of the fly and the optimization of the aero nave form. The optimization of the envelope of the aero-nave form LTA (Light Than Air), should be done by the determination of its six aerodynamics coefficients of the forces and momentum, using the numerical tools or/and using the experimental data of the reduced model in the wind tunnel. The knowledge of these coefficients is essential in the implantation of the aero-nave control model. In this research work, the aerodynamic coefficients of the reduced model, 1/13th for the scale, of the airship AS800 were determined. This reduced model is about 800 mm for the length, volume about 18 l and a fraction maximum diameter with length is equal to 0.25, in the case of Re ~ 106, in the wind tunnel of the Aeronautical laboratory of Portuguese air foces (AFA) at Sintra. This wind tunnel is equipped by electronic balance of six components and one automatic system data acquisition. The answer of the relative wind were done by angles in yaw from 0º to 180º and completed by the measurements of pressure coefficients (Cp) in the two medium longitudinal plans and with the flow visualization using “laine” fibers and smokes. This carried out in the Laboratory of Industrial Aerodynamics (LAInd) of University of Minho. Data aerodynamics Forces and momentum from balance adimensionalized and converted in the aerodynamics axes in the flow plan (yaw) with β from - 4 to +180º and attack angles α = 0, -10 and +10º. These measurements were made for the simple envelope and equipped with “gondola” and surface control. The presented results are compared with existents data in the literature for the flow frontal plan. The preliminary tests presented variations in plan flow yaw, cp profile in the 37 located points long down and lateral meridians of the model. From flow visualization, the global behaviors have been analyzed for the airship. In order complete this experimental work, numerical tests in the two-dimensional flow around the studied model have been carried out using commercial code (ANSYS) based of Finite Elements method and turbulent model k-ε.
