Multiculturalismo: o caso holandês

Abstract

A integração das comunidades imigrantes numa sociedade de acolhimento representa, sempre, uma série de desafios que são colocados a ambas as partes. Se se tiver em consideração a rapidez com que a informação circula, assim como as diferenças, muitas vezes ampliadas, entre culturas distintas, verifica-se a urgência em minimizar possíveis confrontos entre formas diferentes de pensar e agir. A globalização trouxe a importação dos problemas, das tensões, ocorridas nas sociedades de origem para as sociedades de acolhimento. Este foi o caso da Holanda, onde a existência de inúmeras comunidades de imigrantes, nomeadamente oriundas de países islâmicos, começou a desequilibrar a estrutura social holandesa. Novos problemas exigem novas respostas e é ao olhar-se para o passado que se poderá traçar as linhas orientadoras para o futuro. É dessa forma que se poderá caminhar para uma sociedade mais justa, mais solidária e menos xenófoba. A realização deste trabalho teve como objetivos verificar se o modelo multicultural é o modelo de integração étnica desejável e se este modelo sofreu alterações na Holanda, aferir a integração étnica das várias comunidades imigrantes, analisar a necessidade de um novo modelo de integração dos imigrantes.

The integration of immigrant communities in the host society is always based on a number of challenges that are placed on both sides. Taking into account the speed with which information travels, as well as differences, often enlarged, in different cultures, the urgency to minimize possible conflicts between different ways of thinking and acting is always an issue to be considered. Globalization has imported problems, tensions, occurring in the societies of origin to the host societies. This was the case of the Netherlands, where the existence of numerous immigrant communities, especially coming from Islamic countries, began unbalancing the Dutch social structure. New problems require new solutions and it is looking at the past that you can trace the guidelines for the future. It is in this way that you can walk to a fairer, more inclusive and less xenophobic society. The goal of this work was to verify if the multicultural model is the most appropriate and desirable model of ethnic integration and if this model has changed in the Netherlands, by analyzing the integration of various ethnic immigrant communities and examining the need for a new model of immigrant integration.
