Within the prediction of binary dependent variables it is important to use techniques of discriminant analysis and logistic regression to identify companies that may become insolvent/solvent. Discriminant analysis is essential to give a clear classification of a company belonging to one of the study groups (insolvency/solvency). For this, we use a data set with financial ratios. These indicators provide timely if the company can or cannot be in financial disruption. Logistic regression also predicts which companies belong to a particular group and allow to classify companies using estimates of success probabilities. It's possible to compare these two techniques, in order to the evaluate the importance of each in this study, through percentage of measures of correct classifications, and even the ROC curves.
