Os efeitos da indisciplina no rendimento escolar: o olhar dos alunos

Com este trabalho de investigação queremos abordar a problemática da indisciplina escolar e a sua relação com o insucesso escolar, a qual constitui uma questão atual que afeta as nossas escolas com frequência. Procuramos conhecer a posição dos alunos perante a indisciplina, identificar os seus efeitos sobre eles, assim como nomear as principais causas do insucesso escolar e analisar o impacto da indisciplina no rendimento escolar dos discentes. No que diz respeito à metodologia, utilizámos o paradigma quantitativo, por considerarmos que este serve melhor as finalidades deste estudo, nomeadamente devido à maior simplicidade de análise, à rapidez na recolha e ao não menos relevante aspeto económico e de tempo. Como instrumentos de recolha de dados, utilizámos o inquérito por questionário a alunos do ensino básico e secundário do ensino regular, profissional e cursos de educação e formação. Os resultados obtidos, depois de apresentados e analisados, ajudaram-nos a entender melhor a perceção dos alunos perante a indisciplina - através do conhecimento da gravidade que atribuem aos diferentes comportamentos indisciplinados, da frequência com que estes ocorrem e dos efeitos que estes lhes provocam - e do insucesso - através do conhecimento das causas que presumivelmente o causam, da frequência com que são usadas estratégias da construção do sucesso escolar, da contribuição dos Encarregados de Educação para o sucesso e dos meios a que o Diretor poderia recorrer para a construção do mesmo. Concluímos que indisciplina e rendimento escolar são realidades intimamente ligadas.
With this research work we want to explore the problem of indiscipline and misbehaviour in the school context and its relationship with school failure, which is a current issue that frequently affects our schools. We intend to know the students´ opinions on indiscipline, identify its effects upon them, as well as name the main causes of school failure and analyse the impact of indiscipline on the students´ school performance. As far as methodology is concerned, we used the quantitative paradigm because we considered that this would be better for the purpose of this study, mainly because of its bigger simplicity of analysis, data gathering and the no less relevant economic and time aspect. As data gathering, we used the questionnaire to the students of the basic and secondary teaching of the regular, professional and formation and education courses. The results we achieved, after being presented and analysed, helped us understand in a better way the perception of students concerning indiscipline and misbehaviour – through the knowledge of the gravity they attach to the different indisciplined behaviours, the frequency with which these occur and the effects that these cause them – and failure – through the knowledge of the causes that presumably cause it, the frequency of the strategies used to construct school success, Guardians´ contribution to success and the means which the Director could turn to for the construction of the same. We concluded that indiscipline and school performance are closely connected realities.
