dc.description.abstractDe acordo com a literatura, os vínculos afetivos que se estabelecem na infância podem ter efeitos no desenvolvimento emocional dos jovens. A vinculação segura pode potenciar a capacidade de regulação emocional, proporcionar uma imagem de si mais positiva e, por conseguinte, comportamentos ajustados de investimento na aparência. O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o papel da vinculação aos pais na regulação emocional e no investimento esquemático na aparência. Irá ser ainda testado o papel mediador das dificuldades de regulação emocional na associação entre a vinculação aos pais e investimento esquemático na aparência. A amostra foi constituída por 948 jovens adultos entre os 18 e os 30 anos de ambos os sexos. A recolha de dados foi efetuada através de um questionário sociodemográfico, do Questionário de Vinculação ao Pai e à Mãe, da Escala de Dificuldades de Regulação Emocional e do Inventário de Esquemas sobre a Aparência – Revisto (ASI-R). Os resultados apontam que a saliência auto-avaliativa é predita positivamente pela ansiedade de separação ao pai e pela inibição da exploração e individualidade relativa à mãe. Já a saliência motivacional é predita positivamente pela qualidade do laço emocional à mãe. Verifica-se também o efeito mediador positivo das dificuldades de regulação emocional na associação entre a inibição da exploração e individualidade relativa à mãe e a saliência auto-avaliativa. A discussão dos resultados realizar-se-á à luz da teoria da vinculação, atendendo ao papel relevante que a vinculação assume na imagem que os jovens têm de si e na regulação emocional.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractAccording to the literature, the affective bonds that are established in childhood can have effects on the emotional development of young people. The secure attachment can potentiate the ability of emotional regulation, provide a more positive image of yourself and, therefore, adjusted investment behaviors in appearance. This study aims to analyze the role by the parental attachment on emotional regulation and in the schematic investment in appearance. The mediator role of difficulties in emotional regulation will also be tested in the association between the parental attachment and schematic investment in appearance. The sample consisted of 948 young adults aged between 18 and 30 years of both genders. Data collection was carried out through a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Father/Mother Attachment Questionnaire, the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and the Appearance Schemas Inventory – Revised (ASI-R). The results indicate that the self-evaluative salience is positively predicted by the separation anxiety concerning the father and by the inhibition of exploration and individuality concerning the mother. The motivational salience, however, is positively predicted by the quality of the emotional bond to the mother. The positive mediator effect of difficulties in emotional regulation can also be seen in the association between the inhibition of exploration and individuality regarding the mother and the selfevaluative salience. The discussion of the results will take place in the light of the attachment theory, in view of the important role that the attachment takes in the image young people have of themselves and in emotional regulation.pt_PT
