dc.description.abstractThe objective is to analyze the histological bone response to a new synthetic nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite (nHA). Six New Zealand White rabbits were divided into two groups. Bilateral cranial defects were prepared. At each group, five defects were filled with nHA and one was left empty (neg- ative control). Rabbits were euthanized after two (group 1) and four weeks (group 2). Histological samples were pro- cessed by using an undecalcified technique. A qualitative histological analysis was performed. At two weeks period, the hydroxyapatite group had new bone formation near the lateral margins and also new trabeculae bridging and surrounding hydroxyapatite particles. It was observed new lamellar bone. At four weeks period, the hydrox- yapatite group showed thick bone trabeculae incorporating some hydroxyapatite particles. Some hydroxyapatite particleswere in contact with woven bone but a new bone with lamel- lar architecture was also observed. Some nHA particles were under an apparent demineralization process. During the 4 weeks experimental period, the control group had sparse bone formation near the defect margins. This animal model was appropriated to the purpose of this study. We could see both new immature and mature bone tissue surrounding the nHA particles, mainly at the four weeks period.por
dc.description.abstractL’analyse histologique de la réponse osseuse à une nouvelle hydroxyapatite nanocristalline (HAn) est étudiée. Six lapins blancs de Nouvelle-Zélande sont divisés en deux groupes. Des défauts crâniens bilatéraux sont créés. Dans chaque groupe, 5 défauts sont comblés avec de l’HAn et le dernier est laissé vide (témoin négatif). Les lapins sont eutha- nasiés respectivement à 2 (groupe 1) et 4 semaines (groupe 2). Des échantillons histologiques sont préparés à l’aide d’une technique non décalcifiée pour réaliser une étude histolo- gique qualitative. Après une période de 2 semaines, le groupe hydroxyapatite présente une néoformation osseuse près des bords latéraux ainsi que de nouveaux pontages trabéculaires autour des par- ticules d’hydroxyapatite. On observe de l’os lamellaire néo- formé. Au bout de 4 semaines, le groupe hydroxyapatite pré- sente des trabécules osseux épais incorporant quelques particules d’hydroxyapatite. Certaines de ces particules sont en contact avec de l’os immature ; mais on observe également une nouvelle formation d’os avec une architecture lamellaire. Certaines particules d’HAn semblent subir un processus de déminéralisation. Durant la période expérimentale de 4 semaines, le groupe témoin présente une formation osseuse éparse près du rebord des défauts. Ce modèle animal a été adapté aux besoins de l’étude. On peut observer à la fois de l’os immature et mature entou- rant les particules d’HAn, principalement au bout de 4 semaines.por
