“Cartas para a vida: Legado para depois da partida” - Estudo Misto sobre a experiência subjetiva do doente em fim de vida

Resumo
A dignidade é um conceito complexo que ainda não reuniu consenso quanto à sua
definição. Cumpre aos profissionais de saúde, que prestam cuidados em fim de vida, considerálo e clarificá-lo no sentido de adequar as suas intervenções à vivência emocional dos doentes.
Assim sendo, procurou-se com o presente estudo compreender a vivência emocional e o sentido
de dignidade dos doentes oncológicos em fim de vida, através de uma intervenção inspirada na
Terapia da Dignidade de Harvey Chochinov, com o propósito de contribuir para a sua
adaptação para a população portuguesa. Para atingir estes objetivos recorreu-se à metodologia
qualitativa, para o qual foi desenvolvido um protocolo, sob forma de carta, estruturado em
quatro sessões. Participaram no presente estudo nove doentes paliativos oncológicos. A análise
dos dados recorreu a uma abordagem semi-indutiva. Nos resultados encontrados, verifica-se a
convergência do discurso dos doentes com os aspetos comportados no modelo de conservação
da Dignidade, bem como o respeito pelo carácter holístico da intervenção. Em conclusão, os
resultados do presente estudo reforçam o papel da família na promoção da dignidade no
contexto paliativo, bem como a necessidade de intervenções multidisciplinares.
The dignity is a composite concept that has not yet reached consensus about his definition. It’s essential that health professionals on palliative care understand the meaning and the value of the dignity concept in order to apply it on your practice. The aim of this study was to perceive emotional experience and sense of dignity of end of life cancer patients through an inspired intervention on the Dignity Therapy of Harvey Chochinov suited to the Portuguese population. This study use a qualitative research methodology, creating a protocol, under the form of letter, organized on four sessions. Participated nine patients on the present research. The analysis of collected data used of a semi inductive approach. In the found results, ensure that a connection between the patients report and the Dignity Conserving Model as well holistic features of the intervention. We concluded the present study results reinforce the family role to promote the Dignity on palliative care and the importance of multidisciplinary approaches.
