in vivo”, referência PTDC/EME-PME/70824/2006 e “Sistema de alimentação
fisiológica para avaliação in vivo do comportamento de implantes ósseos”, referência PTDC/EME-PME/105465/2008.
All electric/electronic system needs to be electrically powered, that’s a fact. Very often little importance is given to powering circuits but sometimes they acquire an importance that matches that of the powered system itself. Biomedical implantable systems powering is one good example where an extreme importance is admitted, being security one of the main reasons for such importance. Many restrictions as the available space and system’s location also contribute to make the task even harder to implement. Many solutions have been explored but, even though some have reached high functionality, they still present some disadvantages and in some cases they proved difficult or impossible to implement. This dissertation presents a new approach to the way random usage implantable systems are powered, trying to eliminate or reduce some of the disadvantages encountered in the powering circuits of such systems. This work was developed under the projects “Hip femoral prosthesis for in-vivo loosening data acquisition”, reference PTDC/EMEPME/ 70824/2006 and “Physiologic supply system for in vivo evaluation of bone implants behavior”, reference PTDC/EME-PME/105465/2008.
